Although I had seen a few on the outside of the house earlier this fall, that's been it. Last fall the house had multitudes and we'd see one in the house every few days through the winter. While focusing on Loudoun County, the Post has an article today making the same point about decreasing numbers being reported. No explanation so far. My daughter and husband went apple picking in Fauquier Co. 2-3 weeks ago and said there were lots of the bugs at that location. Maybe Mother Nature has somehow responded to the outbreak in a good way--or, unfortunately, maybe the stinkbug populations will be cyclical. I live in Springfield. What's your experience?

Don't question it, let's count our blessings!

Also, I had heard somewhere that praying mantises will eat them, despite stinkbugs having no natural predators here...Thank goodness there are a few mantises hanging around our house - I thought about bringing them inside and letting them go to work.

Paula Cole, is that you?

Sorry--in a smartassy mood right now.

I never knew we actually got a lot of stink bugs here. I've never seen that many. And I never noticed any unsavory odor from them. Ugly, though. Still, way better than camelback crickets. Those things are creepy!

That would be a fantastic NOVA Halloween costume, btw--camelback cricket.

I'm in Springfield and I agree...I've never seen that many either.

I, too, was wondering where all the stinkbugs are this year, but was afraid to ask, in case they would hear me say the word and all come out again.

Last fall, the outside of my house was COVERED in stinkbugs. On the inside of the house, I'd kill around 30 a day. This year, I've maybe see 30 total, inside and out.

Who knows where they are, but I am NOT complaining!

I'm over in MoCo and it's amazing...virtually stink bug free this year - except the one that was in my mailbox the other day

Last fall they were all over the place, climbing up screens and pasted to my home's south-facing front door. EWWWWWWWWWWWWWW

I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen many this year. Last year they were awful! Funny, when I lived in Alabama (shudder at the thought-so happy to be back in Virginia) we were inundated by ladybugs in the house every fall. They smell too.
