I'm looking to relocate from NY to Fairfax and will be attending the teaching job fair in a couple of weeks. Has anyone attended and would be willing to share their experience with me? I am certified Elem/Special Ed and reading. Thanks!

I have not been to a job fair, but did work for Ffx schools. My advice would be to research the county schools on the fcps.edu website. Be familiar with the service delivery methods, the popular literacy programs, buzz words and common assessments used, etc.

I received an early hire offer from Fairfax through a job fair. With a background in special Ed and reading you should not have a problem. If you get an early hire offer, you are guaranteed a job but you interview at different schools to find a school you like. Good luck!

At your interview, find a way to work in "Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)" and a desire to be part of a "Collaborative Learning Team (CLT)".

I will also be there. I'm also attending George Mason's on the 21st and UVA's on the 23rd. I also have a background in special ed, and with all the cutbacks going on here in Richmond, I am setting my sights on NOVA.

Correction: UVA job fair is the 22nd. There will be a fair share of NOVA division there, which is why I am attending.
