Hello,

I'm helping a relative of a good friend from PA; currently lives in Mont Co but is looking to relocate to NVa. Single, young professional looking for safe, dog friendly 1BR-studio apt or roommate situation. Close to Metro, evening & weekend activities that 20-30 somethings enjoy.

I've read previous posts about Arlington, Clarendon & Ballston. Being a 40-something living much further out, I'm not familiar with those areas. Are there specific recommendations to narrow the search and are there specific areas to avoid? Is Craigslist a good place to search for roommate situations?

Thank you in advance for looking and any insight you can provide.

Old Town Alexandria would be a perfect fit...if it's in the budget. You don't get much more dog friendly than there! Metro access, bars and events within walking distance, and others in the designated age bracket. You'll pay a pretty penny though.

Craigslist is a great place to look for roommates, yes.

Arlington is good as well--along the metro tends to skew a little younger, but still lots of dog businesses and dog parks in the area.

To get really good recommendations you'd have to say where the friend is commuting to.

Commute into the city using the Metro. I was told her office is not too far from the McPherson Square Metro. Budget is unknown but Bank of Mom/Dad is "available". A roommate situation is preferred but she is new to the area.

Check out The Chatham condo building--Route 50 and George Mason Drive. Some rental units there. Dogs allowed with no size limits. Bus into DC or walk 15-20 minutes to the train. (Bus is easier.)

Sounds nice. Are they accepting applications for new clients?
