Has anyone bought paint from a local chain of paint stores known as Vienna Paint? What did you think of this store?

They have multiple locations, but are a family owned and operated local business that has been around since the 70's at least. They feature Benjamin Moore. I've used them at least a dozen times and they have always been first class. Otherwise, I would have used them like two times and then written them off. That's not to say I never go to Home Depot or down to the Glidden store for utility jobs, but the next time I have an actual painting project to do, Vienna Paint will be getting another visit.

Sounds good. Are they pricey and did you think it was worth it? We finally found someone to do the tile work in our master bath and are now painting the other walls.

Quality paint costs more than bargain brands, but you get your money back in terms of depth and durability. By depth, I mean that two coats of a bargain brand may give you a better look than one coat of more expensive paint, but it is no competition at all for two coats of the high-priced spread. Especially in something as typically small (not to mention damp and frequently used) as a bathroom, the price difference for two coats of a good upscale latex semi-gloss isn't going to set you back by much. Worth it for sure over time. Depending on the ventilation in there by the way, it might pay to ask the store to add a dose of mildewcide. It's not expensive and does make a difference if the room takes a while to dry out after a nice steamy shower.

Good work on tracking down the tile guy, btw...

Works for me! After the ridiculous amount of effort we had to spend to get someone to do the tile work, the last thing I want to do is spoil it by using cheap paint on the other walls.

I've also used Vienna Paint and second saganista's recommendation of them. I've also noticed a lot of professional painters' trucks in their parking lot, if that's any indication. The couple of times I've been there personally, I came away with the impression that the staff really know their stuff.

For all the effort and disruption that occurs when painting, I think you might as well get your money's worth and go for the high quality paint. There are some things worth spending extra on, and IMO paint is one off them.

I'm a fan of Sherwin Williams paints. There are many locations in NVa.

Sherwin-Williams is a manufacturer. They sell various grades of paint. Their Duration line is generally very good but it retails for around $50 a gallon. Their SuperPaint line is cheaper and gives you a lot for the money. They also produce some contractor-grade lines that are not so good.

I've been using Vienna Paint just this week and have been very happy with their customer service. That is where the independent stores shine; the staff at Vienna Paint have been able to give me great advice and service. Plus they are very close to my house.

I like Benjamin Moore paint better than Sherwin Williams or Duron for its sheen, durability, and washability. However, there are some colors in the Sherwin Williams line that I particularly like (and even one Duron color). So Vienna Paint made up those colors for me using the Benjamin Moore paint.

I use the Vienna Paint location located in Sterling right off of Church. I've had good luck with them and they seem to be happy to offer advice as needed. Most of their customers appear to be pros and they're certainly going to get a discount over what they charge a regular joe off the street. If you normally buy paint at a big box store you're in for a shock price-wise but I've quickly learned that cost does equal quality. After years of using Behr to Valspar I'm amazed how much better my paint jobs look with Benjamin Moore paints, particularly Aura. And the BM Advance is incredible for trim work. I just have to mentally purge the prices when I buy..
