Hi! Looking to relocate from MD for job reasons. Found an awesome SFH to rent in 20164 neighborhood. Not worried about schools yet (son is a toddler) and not looking to stay until he's 5.

Is this a safe area? I'm told it's in the Lochwood community. Can't find jack about that. It is off of Church Rd. not off of the "scary" Sterling Blvd. It isn't far from Park View high school.

Help please! I am hearing lots of mixed reviews on Sterling. Even though we are renting, I don't want to live in a bad place.

If you're off Church Road, but close to PVHS, there's really only two little spots it can be. Are you north or south of Church? Both of which could potentially be pretty close to Sterling Blvd - like a block away.

OTOH, maybe "close" is a relative term.

I live in Sterling, but am not near Sterling Blvd. and rarely go to that shopping center since it just seems kinda depressing. I'm about 5 minutes each from Dulles 28, Dulles Crossing / DTC, Cascades Marketplace, and the whole Countryside plaza(s), so also no need to.

You should be fine there--I'm familiar with Pullman Court. It's a nice newer neighborhood of large single family homes. The location is also quite convenient. You are also very close to Claude Moore Park.

The "bad" stuff in Sterling tends to happen near the DMV off of Sterling Blvd, and Pullman Court is not really in that area.

Thanks! That makes me feel a lot better. When I looked at the map, it seemed as though Pullman Ct was outside of the "danger zone" if that makes sense.

There is no actual defined "danger zone", only an area where crime tends to be higher. Pullman Court has always seemed like a nice street to me; rather self-contained. For what it's worth, I was about as equi-distant from the so-called "danger zone" on the NE side for 7 years and never felt unsafe. Only moved away two years ago, so I can't imagine much changed; it likely has improved.

The address is Sterling 20164.

As mentioned, we are looking to rent this place. Not buy.

Still a bad idea, you think?
