My son who is 17 is looking for a part time job. He loves working with animals, he currently works a few hrs a week at a farm, doing chores, fixing fences, painting barns, cleaning out horse stalls. etc. Does anyone know of anyone who might need a handy, responsible, teenager to work for them? I am new to this forum and hope I am in the right area, We live in the northern Virginia area, Gainesville, Haymarket, Manassas area.

Is he looking for money, or would volunteering somewhere (looks great on a college app!) suffice? The local shelters are often looking for folks to help walk dogs, clean cages, etc.

Have you checked craigslist? There are often part time jobs and "help wanted" type posts on there.

If he wants to continue in the farm area, check the bulletin boards at local tack shops or put your own flyer up.

If he's got a smart phone with camera, I'd guess something like Gigwalk might have some opportunities for odd lots jobs in NoVA metro area:

My son works for a "dog resort" in the Woodbridge area. He is a kennel assistant. He's been there since July and it's been the perfect job for him. They've been great working around his schedule and he can get "almost" full time hours in the summer if he wants them. Is your son interested in something like that or he is more interested in the farm aspect?
