Hi,
Van Metre VILLAGE RUN opposite to John Champe High School has SF units in around 500-600's, did anyone move there ?
Hows the construction, service and location ?
Do you see lots of trafic noise becuase of school ? I am planning to buy one there but not sure is it good to buy near high school or not as my son is just 6 months old ...

Thanks,

I cant say for sure, but I would think that there wouldn't be much activity and noise there at night when your son is sleeping apart from football games.

All I can say is...my realtor strongly advised against buying near/across from a High School. Part of it was traffic (kids are driving, plus buses). The other part she disliked was kids just "hanging out" / "looking for something to do." I'm not familiar with this high school. The one she nixed was in Falls Church. Just a thought.

We live close to another high school in the area and haven't had any problems. It's nice having a track and another set of tennis courts nearby. You do hear noise sometimes, usually during home football games. I don't know who decided Ozzy Osborne's "Crazy Train" is necessary to the success of a football team, but it's played a lot during games over the PA. But the games are over by 10/10:30.

Another thing I've noticed is the baseball team also plays music over the PA during practice. I've heard it on Saturdays when I'm walking the dog around 8am or so. I can't hear it from my house, but that would frost my tush if I was trying to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee on Saturday morning and am subjected to Jason Aldean that early.

On other occasions we've heard the drumming from the drumline competitions, but that doesn't bother me. Again, everything's over at a reasonable hour.

Traffic hasn't been much of an issue for us. We don't live directly in sight of the school, but do notice a slight increase in traffic in our neighborhood when school lets out. The teens don't seem to drive worse than the adults around here, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

Regarding hanging out--I'd check to see if Champe has outdoor basketball courts. Those seem to be a magnet for hanging out. There's not a loitering problem at our high school.
