My husband and I are looking to buy our first home. We are looking for a brand new townhome in the $400K to $425K range and possibly in the Ashburn or South Riding (Loudon county) areas.

We are in no hurry to move in but would love it if we can find a quick delivery home that we can close by January!

Besides Toll Brothers, who are the builders in these areas? Are there other areas in Fairfax county where new constructions are available?

If you know of any builders, please share and help us out!

Thank you!

I would look at Centex, Pulte, Ryan, Miller & Smith, Beazer and Van Metre. I know a ton of builders that are offering huge incentives to close before the end of the year. Be careful when looking at some of the townhomes...they look like townhouses, but they are actually condos. Also, don't look at the HOA or Condo fee and rule out a neighborhood simply based on that number. Some of those fees include internet and basic cable, so your bill isn't really as high as it appears to be. And do yourself a favor....hire an agent. It doesn't cost you anything and you will almost certainly get a better deal than you would have gotten on your own.

David,

Thanks for responding. I do have an agent who has been great in helping us newbies out a lot. But my husband and I wanted to do our independant research as well to possibly speed up the process. I will look at the builders site for any inventory homes!

Thanks again!

Good luck with the search. One last bit of advice. Hire a home inspector. It will be the best $400 you spend.
