Hello!

We have a 2 hr window between ceremony and reception that we plan to take advantage of for wedding pictures. Ceremony will be in Alexandria (near Kingstowne). The reception will be near Bailey's Cross Roads area in Falls Church. We done our engagement pictures in Old Town Alexandria. So we are looking for a new location with different backdrops. Maybe a nice garden or park....ideally a Japanese garden if one exists. We can't go too far away since we are limited in time. A friend suggested National Harbor. A coworker mentioned Mt Vernon estate. We are open to any suggestions for our wedding next month!

Thanks!!

I had my wedding pictures taken in Brookside, which is in MD so it may be far for you.

Meadowlark Garden in Vienna is also really nice.

I'd suggest the park in Cameron Station (Ben Brenman Park): See pictures from Yelp:

I would pick someplace near the Reception - nothing like getting stuck in traffic and missing your reception.

I agree with slduvall - that's not a short ride, and it would be really stressful to get stuck somewhere and worry about it. I know my pictures took way longer than I expected. Maybe look for a historic site in Falls Church, like a farmhouse or manor - I'm sure they have some.

Gravelly Point Park, just off the GW Parkway northbound. You can have the Washington Monument in the background.

Also (in my neck of the woods) Bon-Air Memorial Rose Garden, just off Wilson Blvd, west of Ballston.

Here's an idea. One of Fairfax County's parks in the Alexandria area. Green Spring Gardens

Ditto on Green Spring. Added bonus -- if it's raining, they have a huge indoor plant room and you can take pictures in there.
