Hi everyone,

I'm familiar with the weekday buses and VRE that goes in and out of Burke.....just curious if anyone knows of any public transportation options that run on the weekend?

Thanks.

The metro runs on weekends but I don't think metro buses do. Can you drive to the metro? Parking is free on weekends. You could check Fairfax Connector routes. I think they run on weekends, although less frequently than on weekdays. I don't know if there's great coverage in Burke, though.

I don't know about any buses from Burke on the weekend, but your "best" public transportation option would probably be driving to the Vienna or Franconia-Springfield Metro and taking that in. Of course, I say "best" because Metro on the weekends can be pretty awful and you almost always make better time driving. And, with a large enough group, drivin and parking is going to be cheaper than round trip Metro fares for everyone.

I agree weekends its usually by car from Burke to Metro...normally we would go to Springfield or Dunn Loring/Merrifield station sometimes we go to Pentagon City area.

I had thought maybe the Burke VRE to Tysons Fx Connector bus, but that seems to be weekdays only.

Parking is free on weekends at Metro stations FYI. Having said that, I would probably just drive myself because Metro is Metro x100 on the weekends.

Thanks everyone. Was just curious because we're a one car family and when extended family come to visit, it's likely that they'll have to rent a car to get around because we won't all fit in ours.

You could always use Uber to get to/from the Metro station. Might be cheaper than a rental car, although, perhaps, less convenient. Just a thought.

One suggestion -- during certain times of the year, you can get a car from the local Enterprise offices (there's one in Burke that we use a lot) for $9.99/day on weekends. Go to their website and check it out. We managed with one car (and four kids) for years and that was part of how we did it.

Zipcar also has locations at GMU and Franconia/Springfield Metro which would let you rent on an hourly or daily basis.

Metrobus runs 7 days a week on most routes. Burke probably not.
