I have been searching for employment for an extended period of time, and would like suggestions of staffing/contractors to route my efforts through. I am working on my certifications in cyber security and extensive experience as an executive assistant.

One way to bridge the gap in between employment is to list yourself as "Consultant" with your firm's name such as "Joe Smith Cybersecurity Consulting". Though most insiders know the real story but it looks good on the resume and by pass the HR screeners. It looks relevant to your field of employment & you could argue you were technically looking for clients during those period.

Good luck in your job search.

If I were you I'd send my resume to all of them--GD, DynCorp, CACI, Booz, PWC, Grant Thornton, et al. Meanwhile, I'd apply to everything in USAJOBS that you're remotely qualified for. And btw, the resume for the latter can be very long; mine is 10 pages.

You may want to check out McLean Bible Church's career network ministry on Tuesday evening. A lot of people who are in your situation network with recruiters and look for potential opportunities. You may want to email elizabethahaugh@gmail.com to request that she add you to the distribution list. I believe you can also connect with the group on LinkedIn.

It was helpful to me in getting my first offer in the DC metro area back a couple of years ago.
