Any ideas on where to donate a 1960s era upright piano? A little beat up on outside but surprisingly still tunes well.

You may have looked into this already given your comment on the used book thread, but what about a senior center?

I got rid of our older upright piano on Craigslist. Actually got $100 for it. If you just want to give it away I think they have a give away category. Craigslist is free and very user friendly.
Don't pass up any takers. I found that older pianos can be hard to give away. I just got lucky someone happened to be looking then.

Good luck with that.

I had a used piano and no one wanted it. I think there's a lot of free pianos around and no one wants for one.

I ended up finding someone with a young child who was taking lessons but only had a keyboard. I gave it to hear, although she paid to have it moved.

Try a local school to see if they can use it. Or a senior center as someone else suggested. You can get a receipt from them so you'd be able to deduct it on your taxes as a charitable contribution if you itemize.

There are at least eight free upright pianos on Craigslist right now. I'd just list it there and hope yours gets picked.

I haven't tried the Senior Center yet but that's on my list. Thought about Craigslist, too. I was just hoping someone new of some great place that rehabbed them or something.

Thanks everyone!
