Oatlands? Where's Oatlands?
According to this, it looks like congratulations are in order to Loudoun County, and Oatlands in Virginia!

I really hope this is not true. Not in the Oatland's area. So glad I no longer live out in the Rt 15 area. It may be close to Leesburg but Rt 15 used to be such a gorgeous area. This will change things dramatically out there. I wonder how many of Amazon employees will be able to afford to live in Loudoun?

The article gives some reasons it would be in the DC area, and not right in DC. It does not make any particular case for Loudoun, let alone Oatlands.

Amazon has, IIRC, stated that they will only put HQ2 where it has received an official proposal from a local/state govt. There is no such proposal for any part of Loudoun, IIUC. The closest is in the Herndon/Dulles area near the Innovation Station of Silver Line phase 2, proposed jointly by Fairfax and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Arlington and Alexandria have proposals (and I think one joint proposal) but that would not fit the argument for not being near the center of a metro area.

Haha!! Oatlands? Serviced by the silver line? Haha!! Might as well be Washington Indiana.

Not believing this at all. For one thing, no infrastructure remotely capable of being in place big enough to support the outfit. I’m talking power, connectivity, water and sewer. No way, this is just some joke..

Data center construction might actually be more evidence of where they are NOT moving, as the whole idea behind data centers is to secure the data in places, where it cannot be adversely affected by HQ, and its employees. Redundancy plays a big role.
