Which neighborhoods in the above areas have strong HOA's? We prefer the neighborhoods that have very strict policies as far as no parking on the streets, well maintained lawns, etc.

*Please no arguments or comments on why people hate HOA's. We personally want one...that is all :-)

I live in Bristow which is very close to Gainesville and Haymarket and have never heard of no parking on the street. Most neighborhoods in the area were built in late 90's on and it's very hard to live in a non HOA neighborhood. Of course some are more restrictive than others...if that's a big concern I would contact some of the bigger neighborhoods like Dominion Valley

Agreed on Dominion Valley and Piedmont, also agree unlikely on a neighborhood having language restricting from street parking (except possibly language about work vehicles)

I would think the most restrictive would be Lake Manassas but don't think that fits your budget based on your other post.

I don't live in the areas you identified but my HOA has a provision that everyone must park in the driveway. We have large driveways which can fit four cars. That's the rule. Not enforced...at all. I am lucky that we have really wide streets so the street parking is not problematic but I can see how it could be with some of these developments with narrow roads. I've been in some and two cars can't even pass through with the street parking.

Honestly, I don't think you'll find an HOA *that* strict in this area.

How can people run boarding houses if there is no Street parking?

I came from a neighborhood in Texas that had no street parking on the books. It was *never* enforced.

My last HOA had 'no street parking' in the CC&R, but they couldn't enforce it because the streets were owned and maintained by the town.

You beat me to this. They can have that rule all they want but unless the roads are privately owned and maintained (there are neighborhoods this is true for and is almost always true of pipe stems) they can’t legally do a thing unless the owner of the roads (county or state) has a law specifically reinforcing their authority to make rules in reference to the roads. If your HOA is solely responsible for snow removal and other road maintenance you may be in such a jurisdiction.

South Riding has a very strong HOA. No "work vehicles" , trailers, campers, etc. If your car has a business logo on the door, you better put it in your garage.
