The educated populace, excellent job market, cultural diversity which was unheard of where I grew up in WV, the local governments who work hard to make it a great place to live (ffx data alluded to this earlier), four season weather with moderate winters, proximity to mountains and beaches, close to civil war battlefields/ vineyards/ state and national parks, FOOD- I love being able to go into the most run of the mill strip mall around here and be able to feast on cuisines from all over the world, I could keep going and going. Sure it's expensive- most places that are highly desirable locations with strong job markets tend to be but overall it is an excellent place to live and I am very happy I found my way here.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

The prices people pay for services are outrageous, but not as outrageous as the prices the taxpayers pay for bozo government contractors and their Beltway Bandit employers.

I LOVE the diversity (Multi-Culturalism) of NOVA when I used to live there from 1999 - 2010 (housing crisis when the company that I work for relocated my position to Richmond). Used to reside in: Manassas, Lake Ridge and Centreville. I liked Centreville the best

The growing and dynamic bike community, the bike lanes, the shared use trails, and some of the local bike shops, especially (but not only) the co-ops.

Well I don’t know about the “real people and a more traditional culture but” but I do love the day trips as well. We got in the car on a Sunday morning and were just like “which state do we want to see this time?” It’s an exhilarating feeling for someone from Texas who had to drive 4 hours just to leave the state.

How does one define "real people and a more traditional culture?"

Middle America. Usually when people say that they're saying DC/NoVa and cities alike aren't reflective of the rest of the country and blah blah blah.
