I got a general reckless driving ticket ( wrong way driver) from last Saturday . I live in VA. I had the learner permitted and i was driving with my dad( i am learning how to drive). When i made the left turn i could not see the Lane Separator. I accident went to the oncoming traffic, lucky that was 11 pm so there were no traffic. I slow down my car to back up the car. Suddenly the cop showed up and he asked me have i been drinking? I said no and he asked me to pull the car to the side of the road. He gave a reckless driving.

I have a few questions:

Will i go to the jail for that?

Should i hire a layer?

I am i going to have a criminal record?

Is that consider to reckless driving instead of careless driving or improper driving?

How much will i be fine when i show up at the court?

What should i do ? because i will go to the trail soon. Thank you

After you go to your "trail" be sure to go back to school and learn how to read and write! Sorry - couldn't resist.

I'm no lawyer, but assuming you are being completely honest, I'd say just go to court with your father, explain the situation, and consider pleading "no contest" (as opposed to "not guilty"). Even if found guilty of reckless driving, you won't be going to jail, you'll just pay a hefty fine and get some points on your license, which may delay your ability to trade that learner's permit in for an actual license. Oh, and if found guilty, plan on paying higher insurance rates. Good luck.

I could understand it - just giving you a hard time is all. As for your reckless driving, simply showing up to court and being respectful to the judge will almost certainly assure you a reduced charge. Pay the fine and court costs and the increased insurance premiums and it will all be behind you. Good luck.
