I have been living in apartments this whole time and never lived in a townhouse. I live in a rented apartment in Falls Church/McLean area and am considering moving into another apartment. We are three roommates and we want to share the house with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. For this combination, a townhouse looks like a more practical and economical idea. Apart from this, I always fancied living in a place which looks more like a "home".

I'd suggest a townhouse if you're living as roommates. Often the basements are finished and some even have separate bedroom/bathroom so one of you can live in the basement. A townhouse is also great for roommates because there is more privacy, if someone is up watching tv on the middle floor, you can usually find peace and quiet upstairs. Also, if you have a deck, barbecues are much nicer than on a balcony.
