I'll be working at Springfield, 7:00AM-4:00PM M-F and my wife will be working at Manassas Park, need to rent for a year, before buying. Budget:$1800/mo.
Any suggestions?

You should live in Manassas Park; she can work close to home, and you take the VRE. The VRE station is located at 6900 Hechinger Drive Springfield, Virginia 22151. It will be a 24 minute train ride each way, with $115.00/month fare with free parking at the station. The train you can take in the morning is the #326 that leaves Manassas Park at 6:26 and arrives at Backlick Road Station at 6:50.

I would look at lake ridge. she will be against traffic, and you only have to get on the highway for a short period of time. Nice area, lots of things to do. manassas park is just kinda run down. certain parts of lake ridge are too, but its a fairly nice area.

Where in Springfield will you be working? Just wondering how you would get from the VRE station to work.

You could also try looking at Newington, Lorton or Occoquan.

It wouldn't be too hard to get there from any of those three. From Occoquan (or Lake Ridge) you could go right up 123 to Hooes Rd to the Parkway to avoid 95.

You could rent in the West Springfield or Burke area. I wouldn't think the drive to Manassas Park would be bad. FFX County Parkway, Braddock west to 28 south perhaps? Looks like there are plenty of townhomes under $1800.

You may want to consider checking out Centreville. It would be closer for your wife to Manassas Park, but an easy commute for you via the Fairfax County Parkway to Springfield. The area in Centreville that would be the most convenient would be areas around the the vicinity off New Braddock Road, closer to Routes 28/29. There are several townhouse developments around these areas. Centreville is a very nice community. I have live in the Manor Gate community, right off Rt 28 going towards Manassas, for 11 years. Manor Gate is a mix of single family homes and townhouses.
