In search of doggie daycares and veterinarians in Arlington. Also looking for cageless boarding facility.

As for vet - one dog is a senior so I'm looking for a VERY experienced and compassionate vet staff.

As for where in Arlington - I'll be living in the Courthouse area so I'd like to find someplace not too far away for the mornings I want to drop my furry "kids" off at daycare before heading back to the apartment and jumping on the metro.

THANKS!

Default Ddc

Hi, if you are looking for the best place around the DC area I can't recommend the Perfect Pet Resort enough. I driven hours to take my dog to the place. Its not arlington but for long vacations you should check it out:

Perfect Pet Resort

If you are looking closer to arlington this place is expensive but appears to satisfy your criteria.

Default Vet recommendations

My top recommendation for a vet clinic is Belle Haven Animal Medical Centre. They are excellent on medical care and very compassionate too. They are in Alexandria. If you want a vet closer to your home, you might want to check out Ballston Animal Hospital.

Yikes. OTPR is a bit out of my price range. I'm moving from a large city so I expect to pay more but geez... Any other recommendations. (Perfect Pet Resort would be fine for trips but I'm looking for work day drop offs at "day care.") Thanks.

Posing the same question.. well more for overnight long term care for 3 dogs. I had them briefly in yappie cuttery when I moved, but when the stay for my dog is more than a hotel for me... that's a little much. I'm willing to drive to the fairfax area or west to warrenton.

Heather - There is a place on Route 50 in Chantilly called Club Pet. I have never boarded my dog there, but my mom has used them several times for her dog and always has good things to say.

I miss the cheap kennels of Albuquerque. We would take the dogs to a kennel out in the country and the dogs got to run around and bark at the farm animals. Here it's like $30 per dog plus clean up and bath fees. I don't get all the extra fees. I can bathe my own stinky dog at home. Thinking I need to open a cheap kennel in Gainesville. lol But I did put Club Pet on my list. thanks!

Yeah, it is a little ridiculous. I know of one place around here that offers "pet massages" and "salon services" for your dog. Who on earth would pay to have their dog massaged?!?!?! :/

The best vet around is Pender Vet Centre in Fairfax 703-591-3304
The best boarding facility is the Dulles Gateway Pet Retreat - they are affiliated with Pender and have just built a state of the art facility with resonable prices Dulles Gateway Pet Retreat

Most boarding facilities around here are cruddy AND expensive and the really ridiculous "pet spas" are so overpriced it is nuts -

Wow.... that Club Pet sounds great and is ranked as one of the best in the nation! And they are cageless with these really big runs for the dogs. They also have a special section for senior animals too.

Dulles Gateway sounds pretty good too but I like the cageless aspect and also Club Pet is a member of ABKA which is about a "pet's bill of rights" etc.

That vet -- Pender Vet -- looks fantastic. I'm going to check all of these out once I get there.
