Well the title basically explains what I'm looking for. Any ideas on this? I'm mainly interested in expanding my social circle a bit. I already belong to a great volunteer organization I enjoy a lot. I've met quite a few people through that, but I'd like to get one more circle of friends going, just so I have more options (and so I have another line of defense against boring, "stay at home Friday nights" like tonight =P).

My husband's a member of the
Potomac Pedalers cycling club, and he's met lots of great folks through that group. He reports that there are members of all ages and cycling abilities, but that just about everyone he's met is very friendly and open to meeting new people.
They have lots of group rides at various levels, both on weekdays and on weekends, some of which also include lunch or some other kind of during- or after-ride socializing. There are also a couple of non-cycling social events each year.

I joined a meet up group about 9 months ago and have been having a blast with them. I have really expanded my circle of friends and acquaintances. I can see how different groups can have very different dynamics based on the activity/purpose of the group.
