only a 15 mile backup on 95. When it gets to about 20 miles, then maybe I'll think about staying at work longer

I saw that backup on 95 South today while riding back from Chesapeake. Thank God I took the train down there.

Well, it all depends on where you're going....I go from Annandale to out near GMU....two round trips a day. 15-20 minutes max....of course I have numerous alternate routes if my usual route is backed up for some reason.

If where I was going involved I-95....I just flat wouldn't go!

So what plans, exactly, are in place to accommodate the hundreds of thousands MORE people expected to continue moving to NoVA in the coming years? Is traffic just going to go from being congested to UBER-congested?! I bet the NIMBYs who held up the Metrorail expansion back in the 1990s are kicking themselves today!

Actually it's the NIMBY's who held up road building that ought to be kicking themselves. Where's the outer beltway, a new bridge (part of outer beltway) over the Potomac between Dulles area and Gaithersburg, or ... I could go on and on, listing all of the NIMBY blocked projects over the past 40 years.

Seriously, the fact that thru traffic doesn't have a bypass around the DC suburbs is criminal. We do need more transit too, but if we could get the people going from, say, Philly to North Carolina, off of 95, it would be a huge improvement for local traffic.
