Can anyone suggest a furniture store that they like? I want something that isn't high end only like Ethan Allen/Stickley stores but isn't an Ikea. Mid range but good quality in reasonable driving distance from Fairfax Station. Thanks for your suggestions!

Avoid Belfort in Chantilly.

I have to agree with live_strong .... my family purchased close to $25,000 worth of furniture from Belfort three years ago and with few exceptions every item arrived either (1) damaged, (2) wrong color upholstery, (3) wrong item altogether, (4) back-ordered. The customer service following delivery/payment was pitiful. There was no accurate papertrail of our purchases as our original sales rep was fired the night before our big delivery and they insisted over time that all of the "changes" we made were to satisfy ourselves, not to correct their errors, so they ultimately took us to court for the additional monies, legal fees, etc. and are you ready for this -- the judge sided with the store! Never again will I darken the doors of any one of their buildings in "Belfort Park"!

If you don't mind a trip a bit farther out, to a very nice little town, Pattons in Winchester is my favorite, thanks to recommendations here. It has high end furniture and less expensive too, in a nice little downtown mall, with other shops to browse.
