Many people seem to be interested in moving to NWI from mainly Illinois especially now that the neighboring state is in deeper and deeper financial trouble and they have just raised their state income tax by nearly a third!

How likely is it that NWI will be the next place to move to in the Chicagoland area after the West Lake Corridor rail is put in? Will property values go up fast? Will demographics change even further? Will the political climate shift to NWI's favor?

Please discuss or inquire about anything related to relocating to NWI so others can have a place to discuss and review responses in the future.

I'd say now is probably a good time to buy if you already live in NWI. It was only a matter of time before SHTF in Illinois.

That, coupled with an Indiana governor who is focused on this part of the state and increased transit coverage, bodes very well for NWI. I don't like that it is to the detriment of Illinois but they have really dug their own grave.

Percisely.
All this pain & suffering in Illinois is self inflicted.
What happened in the 2016 elections? All the crooks got re-elected. What will happen in 2018? All the crooks get Re-elected again. No reason to feel sorry for Illinois anymore. Glad we got out.

Many threads like this this already.

People in Illinois are done with the ever increasing taxes and corruption! We moved to NW Indiana last year and our property value has already increased 15%! That's huge! New construction is going up rapidly and existing homes are being sold within days. The state is fiscally sound, overall COL is cheaper and the schools are good and actually better than what we had are kids going to in Illinois! No tax on food and property taxes are capped. I would think the only thing holding someone back would be a commute to their job in Illinois.

I'm not going to lie, I lived on Illinois my entire life and had a hard time leaving, but I almost feel like Illinois forced us to and it's terrible! Now that we have been in Indiana a year I ABSOLUTEY love it and I wish we had done it sooner!

Unfortunately my husbands job is still in Illinois, but that might be changing soon as well with the new increase on the corporate tax. I think you're going to see more and more businesses jump the state line or at least get out of Illinois!

And the amount of shopping is just about as good as what's in Illinois!

That is exactly the point which you missed. One main thread is all that is needed that anyone can inquire and ask questions in. This way there won't be dozens of similar threads.

There was a thread similar to this one before but it got locked for whatever reason so lets all try not to do the same to this one as there's lots of interest on this topic
