also, id be moving with 20k in the bank... minus shipping my car & apt stuff. its just me.

question #2 - what would be the cheapest living conditions possible while I look for a job? Airbnb?

Well - once you are on island, living here, and can meet employers face to face, I would guess anywhere from 1-3 months if you are very good, can pass tests, and interview well.

AirBnB or a room in a house, although that's hard to find unless you're on island.

Its easy to spend $15k just moving and getting settled here. Container, airfare, car ship, hotel, apt deposit, food, parking, rental car, storage fees, etc. My advice is: don't move here without a job. Just vacation here if you must meet face-to-face with several employers. And expect a pay cut. Luckily my SO has a great job here or there would be no way I could afford to live here on my IT skills. If you need to move here without a job I would suggest saving $40k-$50k first and plan to spend it all over the course of moving here, living, and packing up to leave for a new destination with better cost of living.

Save as much as you can, above $20,000!! Also have a emergency Fund in case you cannot find worK? It will help you fly back home to the mainland. You do not want to be living on the street. Seems we keep getting more homeless people now days, and getting worse.
