Hello All and Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

We live in Tallahassee and have a small lot in Interlachen that was cleared and a septic placed on it 4 years ago. Nothing done since then.

Wife wants to either put an old used trailer on it and use it for trips to Gainesville, or buy a used trailer already set up in a park (there are several for less than $5000.00) and pay about 300 a month for lot rent.

What do you think it would cost to purchase a used trailer and have it delivered and set up.

I called one place and wanted to sell sell me a used trailer for $2000.00, then $3000.00 to set it up, 600.00 to transport it, and another 2500 for electric hookups and permits and about 2500 for a well. The $3000 to set it up and the 2500 hookup package and permits has me confused a little.

Thanks

Joe

I would definitely take advantage of the lot and utilize that and then you can do as you please rather than a park where your paying them lot rent and probably would have to live under their rules.

Used trailer $2000 sounds about right
Set up- What are you getting? maybe some blocks, leveling, strap it down (as far as I know the strapping down can be done by the hoemowner, just so it meets code), is skirting included?

Transport seems real fair
'
The setup and hookup do seem high but if you got things like connection to septic, installion of brand new service panel, well pump, and pressure tank and all the things to make it livable immedietely it sounds more reasonable.

Make sure the County will allow you to set it up and live in.

Some older trailers that dont have a wind zone 2 sticker have not been able to be set up in some north Florida counties since Hurricane Andrew.

Some counties require old trailers to be inspected by the county before you can be move them on to your lot. And older trailer that is already set up with power is no problem, but once you try to move it to a new location is a different ball game.

Make SURE the county will approve it before you buy it and pay for the moving and set up!

If I was going to put in a trailer, I'd want someone who knows what they are doing to do the tie down and anchors. I'd be really careful this whole thing meets some sort of hurricane standards or you will have wasted your money.
