What are the more "upscale" areas around Ocala? Citrus Springs? Lecanto? Inverness? Black Diamond? Beverly Hills? Looking for single family retirement home $3 to 400K... What's a nice area?

HAHAHAHAHA...none of those.

Your best bet is the Villages or your neighbor will have a mudder truck jacked up with 2 wheels missing and the kids using it for a fort.

Before we bought we looked at these areas due to proximity to my parents in Wildwood.

We bought in Cocoa Beach.

You might want to take a look at On Top of the World Communities in Ocala. They seem to advertise everywhere on I-75 within that area, and it's mainly a 55 plus community.

An area that has higher end homes near Ocala is in the NW, close to the new World Equestrian Center off Hwy 27. One community that I am aware of is called Trilogy, about a mile or so West of I-75. A bit farther west is Golden Hills. Reach out to a local Realtor to help you search for a home.

You can spend more than 400k at On Top of The World. Also less. Take a look.

Trilogy is upscale. It's on the northwest side of Ocala close to many horse farms that are in the multi millions. It's also pretty convenient area close to Publix and I75 for day trips to Gainesville or the Villages.

I'll sell you my house in the Villages for $600,000.

It's 1200sf under air, 2 bed 2 full bathroom, with a laundry shed and a carport and a double-wide driveway. Has a lanai with slider windows and a deck. It's a manufactured home rolled in around 1985.

I think if you were to offer $400,000 for a house in my neighborhood you'd have your pick of the properties. But hey if your purchase raises the value of the area I'm all for it!

Just two years ago one could have a two bedroom, singe bath for $100,000 in the older part, but now they're asking 50% higher, yet I think it is a bubble, as that would otherwise be the biggest two year increase since the financial crises.
