So who has the best local food? Cleveland, Cincinnati, or Columbus?

cleveland hands down for most restaurants, choices, and local/ethnic food dishes. cincy a distant 2nd. columbus never even comes to mind regarding local/ethnic foods, our suburbs have better local food dishes than cbus. but thats just my opinion.

Here is a recent article about the Cleveland restaurant scene and how it is becoming more and more a hotspot for culinary tourism.

For culinary adventures, Cleveland rocks

Quote:
Tell people you're going on a culinary-inspired vacation to this Ohio city, and you're likely to be met with some strange looks -- even here.
Sure, Cleveland is home to Food Network Iron Chef Michael Symon; Food & Wine named The Greenhouse Tavern's Jonathon Sawyer one of 2010's Best New Chefs; and the West Side Market is considered one of the greatest public markets in the country. Still, the city seems to suffer from a collective inferiority complex.
That modesty may help explain why Cleveland's restaurant scene remains underrated, both nationally and regionally. But whether or not people know it, over the past decade, Cleveland has become a culinary powerhouse and a fantastic destination for culinary tourism
Cleveland is certianly the best when it comes to variety and quality of restaurants. Cincinnati has some great restaurnats too, but there is far more abundance and variety in Cleveland. Not too familiar with Columbus' restaurant scence, but German Village has pretty good restaurants as well.

That being said, the Montgomery Inn in the Cincinnati metro have the best ribs that I have ever had though. They just built another restaurant in Columbus and hope that they go a little more north and build one in our region too.

Also Cleveland has been featured on Anthony Bourdain's "No Reservations," Guy Fieri's "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives," and "Man VS Food."

Columbus was on No Reservations, Kihiachi (awesome authentic Japanese) and I want to say Hounddogs was visited.

Man VS Food was also in Columbus going to Schmidts (German food), Ohio Deli (where the challenge was) and Thurmans home of a giant hamburger.

No sure about Guy Fieri as I can not stand him or his shows.

I have never been to cleveland but my guess is Cleveland would smoke Columbus in that department and beat out Cincinnati by a little.

Thanks!

I gotta check it out.

Iron Chef Michael Symon is the man reason Cleveland has has gotten all the national coverage for it's culinary scene over the past couples years IMO -- or at lease he put us on the national map.

Skyline Chili is greater than all other foods, so Cincinnati wins by a landslide.
