My husband and I are looking to move from the South to a colder city up north. I work in insurance so I can go anywhere. My husband is from Mexico and would like to live in an area with a lot of construction and a fairly high hispanic population. We are a young couple so we like living close to everything in an urban area. What cities would fit in Ohio?

As far as construction, all of them are seeing some... but based on population growth, I'd say that Columbus is seeing the most, followed by Cincinnati, Cleveland, Dayton Toledo and Akron.

Awesome! Thank you so much for the info, looks like Columbus might be our best bet. Do people generally like living there or is it run down?

Columbus in an insurance hub for Ohio and to a lesser extent the entire Midwest. Certainly more insurance jobs there as a % of population than anywhere other than Chicago.

Obviously it will depend on who you ask. I would think more people than not like living there, or are at least pretty comfortable. The vast majority of people I know there are.

The economy is very good, so that's a positive. Just 3.7% unemployment rate, which is one of the lowest in the country, with pretty diverse industry.

Also, here's a Franklin County map projection of where the Hispanic population will live in 2020. To help you with where you might want to live.

Great research above! Always nice to see the cold hard facts of a situation.

If for some reason you decide on the Cincinnati/Dayton area I would highly recommend Fairfield. There seems to be a sizable Hispanic population within there and Hamilton, but the houses in Fairfield's Hispanic areas are a lot nicer than houses in the Hispanic district in Hamilton. But if your budget is under $100k I'd go with Hamilton, keeping in mind that the primarily Hispanic areas are to the southeast but the nicest houses are to the north and west.

Also check out welcomedayton.com for some guidance if Dayton itself is a possibility.

Good luck!

Thanks! Time to start the job application process

Reading your past posts, changing locations isn't going to solve your problems. He's going to hate Ohio.
