Out of curiosity, what's your course of study? There may be other economical options in Ohio in less isolated communities.

Northern OH (esp Cleveland ) has one of the cloudiest winters in the nation, 76% of days. Cleveland averages over 200 cloudy days a year. Central OH with have slightly less cloudy days. Don't let the sugar coaters fool you...

Mansfield is a little larger and not too far away. Wooster is another option that's within driving distance. Other than that, I think you're looking at rural farming areas or towns even smaller than Ashland.

It's too far into "no man's land" to be a reasonable commute to any of Ohio's larger metros.

Who sugar-coated anything?

In post 10, I said Ashland winters were cloudy about 80 percent of the time (100-20). You said it was less than 76 percent of the time. Eighty percent of the time is more cloudy than less than 76 percent of the time. Can't do the arithmetic?

I provided an actual Ashland weather data page that the OP can peruse to his heart's content, including the annual "Cloud Cover Categories" chart that I quoted, and the weatherspark Ashland page even provides data for individual months.

Look for Mansfield, OH Craigslist instead. Go to apts and put Ashfield the subject line to find apts.

Best wishes!
