Hi. We're making a cross country trip to VA week after next. I was wondering if there are any great things to see just off of HWY I40? We have visited the Memorial already and it was incredible. We're looking for Christmas attractions (even certain local neighborhoods with great displays) and anything great to do with our restless two year old (parks or other fun things). Thanks so much for any ideas! Madisson

Ya- The Downtown in December campaign basically gives everyone a direction to all the activities. The city leaders did a good job organizing the concept...Its working because my wife is constantly griping to go ice skating and snow tubing. I wont let her take me on one of those boats for a free ride on the canal. You couldnt pay me to do that in the cold!

Been twice now and the only advice I will give is DO NOT sit in the front of the boat. Once you get past Toby Keiths the wind is a killer. They only go down to the bend that goes under the Crosstown and turn around so for the most part it is in the area that is "guarded" by buildings on both sides and really not that cold. Great experience and we will probably take the boys one more time before it ends this holiday season.
