Hang in there! I finally quit smoking for good 5 years ago. I gave myself permission to go ahead and gain weight, if that's what it took to quit smoking. I decided I'd rather be fat and work on getting fit later, than die gasping for air someday because of something stupid I did to myself. And I did gain 25 pounds, which I have now decided the time has come to get rid of. Don't try to get rid of ALL your vices at once, becuase it's too hard. But quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself. The first day/week will be the hardest. After a while, you won't miss them at all. The smell of them turns my stomach these days, not to mention the price!

I have heard about a prescription that helps you stop smoking. I know someone who was a long-time heavy smoker who has successfully quit for 6 months now by using that medication. I am thinking of trying that, since I have tried everything else.
Yep, it's called Chantix. Problem is that my brother tried to use it and it gave him migraines bad enough to make him nauseous, so he had to quit using it.

I do have a friend whose wife used it successfully though.

The patches that the VA hospital gave me are called "Habitrol". I put one on around 8am and take it off at 6pm, and I do get a slight headache from them. And my dreams were a little to vivid, thats why I don't wear it while I sleep.

I've had dreams where I was in a bad situation with no way out or something drastic is about to happen, when I tell myself, "this has got to be a dream", and then I wake up with a smile on my face.
