In order to have a turn lane and the supporting lights and not decrease capacity, it would need to be 3 lanes each way + 1 or more turn lanes. That would require bulldozing dundee, the chic-fil-a at mutual, the pedestrian overpass that is somehow a historical landmark and take away everybody's parking the whole way. The whole throughway is a bunch of shattered dreams as it was originally setup to have a freeway from around 480-dodge, but that never materialized. I actually remember multi-direction arrows in Cedar Rapids before I ever made it to Omaha so the idea was already breached in my mind.

These days I tend to think Omaha could handle turning the center lane into a turn lane. With BRT coming, I don't see it happening, but I think we could handle it.
