Might be moving to Omaha in 2009. I own stud tires for all of my cars now, but wondered if I would really have a need for them in Nebraska. Any information would be great!

Not a bad thing to have. I get by though with just front-wheel drive. If you're smart you'll be fine with just rear-wheel drive and decent tires.

Default Stud tires

Are there any laws about stud tires in nebraska, such as when you can put them on and when you must have them off? How are the road conditions there? Lots of ice, or mostly snow? Is Nebraska good about getting the sand or salt on the roads when they need it?

You can use them Nov 1st - April 1st. Although you will probably only need them dec through early march.

Omaha's pretty decent about getting salt and sand out. We get a fair amount of both ice and snow.

To someone who has lived in Omaha since I was 4, I don't know what to compare it to. You just learn to deal with it--it's not that big of a deal.

Been here 40+ years and as a teen with rear wheel drive I did have studded tires... now with front wheel I have never had an issue by not having studded... if in town and on the main streets there probably is never a need for them (maybe 1 or 2 day exception) .... if you do lots of rural driving might be a little different, but even the highways are maintained well.

Default Thank you!

Thanks for all the information. We will possibly be moving down next year from Alaska. We would like to unload as much stuff we will not need before we move. Thanks!

From Alaska? lol...I'm thinking anything you see here will probably be mild in comparison.

With the exception of a couple of snows, you'll think you moved to Arizona...
