I had a baby last month and I was given paperwork to get his birth certificate. My first 2 kids were born in WA and the paperwork was very minimal and could be mailed with a check to get their birth certificates. It seems here in CA if I want to mail it, I have to have it notarized. The paper also seems to imply to take it in person I have to go to Santa Ana. Does anyone know if that's true? Or is there a place in south county I can take it? Carting a 3 year old, 2 year old and newborn to Santa Ana doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

I'd like to take it in person, because some of the questions on the form I'd like clarification for.

Thanks!

V. =)

The County Seat is in Santa Ana. That's where all of this sort of stuff is processed and filed. You should be able to have your questions answered via telephone, however.

Vital Records - Orange County California (http://www.ocgov.com/ocgov/Clerk-Recorder%20-%20Tom%20Daly/Services/Vital%20Records/Birth%20Records/Vital%20Records%20-%20Birth%20Certificates - broken link)

Congratulations!

Make sure you dot all the "i's" and cross all the "T's" in case your kids want to be president.
