First post here.

What's the average cost of a preschool (I know there can be quite a range depending on quality of school and the amenities/facilities) in the OC area?

I have a client who is searching for a pre-school, and being that this is not my line of work, I need some advice and insight.

Thanks in advance!

It truly depends on what you are looking for and probably where. If they are working full time and are looking more at a daycare facility, I cannot help, but since we just went through the private preschool search for our daughter, I can help with that!

Most private preschools offer classes for kids starting at age 2 and give you the option of going half or full days for 2-5 days a week (with 2, 3, and 5 days being your options).

The younger the child, the more expensive as they need more supervision, etc.

On average, in our area of southern OC, the prices are around $350/month for a two day a week, half day preschool for younger children and that goes down to around $300 for the same amount of time, but for an older child.

Five days a week, but still half day, the rates are averaging $730/month for a two year old and $630 for an older child.

For a full day program, you would be looking at anywhere from $575-$1100 for the two year old on average and $525-$1000 on average per month for the older children.

It really depends on what you are looking for. Most school districts also offer preschool options that are about $300-$400/month for the kids, but only go two or three days per week.

I know this is a lot of information, but hopefully you are able to take something useful away!

Just wanted to elaborate on this part of the post, because this is the area I'm familiar with.

Capistrano Unified School District offers 2 day or 3 day a week preschool from 8am until 11:30am, and I think they have an afternoon session that goes from 11:30 until 2:30, but I'm not 100% sure of the time for afternoon (my son goes to morning). The children have to be 3 years old by December 2nd of the year they are planning on attending, and they must be potty-trained.

For 3 days a week it's $290/month, with $100 registration fee. For 2 days a week it's $200/month, with $100 registration fee.

That being said, admission is based on a lottery system, and it's difficult to get in, because the high demand for the low cost.

V. =)

$600/month, 5 days a week in Anaheim (pack his/her own lunch) is equivalent only to 3 days a week in south county
