Hi! We are looking for a great family friendly, well-maintained area in Cypress, CA with a strong sense of community, pride of ownership, good neighbors and schools to raise our young family. We have heard Cypress described as such, but it's kind of a large area. In what specific areas of Cypress / between what street boundaries (N, S, E, W) should we look to buy a $500-700k, 3-4 bedroom home with a yard for the kids to play? Any advice on what specific parts of Cypress would fit what we are looking for the best would be greatly appreciated Thanks in advance!

Most all of Cypress fits this criteria. It's quiet, safe, suburban with good schools. Pretty much anywhere is OK for the most part but I'd recommend staying away from Lincoln Ave. If possible look within the boundaries of Vessels or Landell elementary schools. Those probably encompass some of the "nicer" areas, though pretty much anywhere away from Lincoln Ave. should probably fit what you're looking for.

It's not that it's dangerous. It's just kind of run down, older, full of strip malls and cheap motels. It just isn't the nicest looking part of town.

It's got quite a facelift recently, though.

Some of the neighborhoods to the north before hitting Centralia have smallish houses (and older) that wouldn't fit the OPs criteria.

That was my point. The OP laid out criteria. I spelled out some of the nicer areas. If you want to believe that Lincoln is the nice part of town, by all means go ahead. But I would imagine that most would disagree.

Full disclosure: I actually live off Lincoln so it's not like I'm some kind of elitist. It works OK for me but it sounds like the OP is lookin for someone different.

No, you're good on that. I have just reacted in the past (see previous posts) to posters that wrote that the entire city of Cypress is one gigantic friggin' ghetto (yeah, even the area around Cypress College (!!!)).

So, I guess it was sort of a knee-jerk reaction........

Lincoln Ave is good for shopping, but I myself, if I had to choose where in Cypress to live, would prefer the area bounded by Cerritos Ave, Knott Ave, and the southern and western city borders. Orange Ave has some good bones too, though.

If you can afford a house over 600k, buy in Fountain Valley. It is way nicer and the homes are better kept. The streets, malls, and businesses are livelier. You have to check them out for yourself.
