Hi, my friends and I are roadtripping from California to Seattle in two weeks. We are looking for a place to tent camp in Southernish Oregon that is open year round, is nice, and is within a few hours of Eugene. Any suggestions? Thanks!

You can camp for free on any BLM land and in most US Forest Service lands in Oregon.

Here is a list of all the Oregon State Campgrounds, I don't know off hand which ones are closest to Eugene though; Oregon Parks and Recreation Department: State Parks Campgrounds

For a March trip, I'd probably camp at the coast.

Or maybe you could check to see if you can camp out of season here

FALL CREEK STATE RECREATION AREA (just SE of Eugene)
Oregon State Parks and Recreation: Rates

(sometimes you can, without the toilets or outhouses open; sometimes you can't),

or nearby on an undeveloped site on public land.

Thinking about it a bit further, I guess most of the times I've camped at a campground in the off-season it was federal land. State Parks would probably say no and might well enforce with fines.

If you want to camp in the forest, you could probably finds spots on federal land. Developed or undeveloped. Here are some links.

Whether there is still snow around would of course depend on elevation and the current weather and whether that would deter would vary by person..

It depends on the park, some are capable of being used all year, others not so much.

Will you be coming into southern Oregon via I-5, Hwy. 199 or Hwy. 101?
