The Hood River Valley seems like a nice place to live. Hood River seems like a great town but I have a question.

How is the wind -in- town. Is it just windy in the gorge on the river? Or is it windy all the time on an annoying level in town.

Is it year round annoyingly windy in town? Is it windy in town to the point where it is uncomfortable to live?

be honest.

Yes and the wind feels worse in winter because it's cold. It'll really dry out your skin.
There are good things about the area. It's popular for wind surfing and close to Mt. Hood for skiing.

I remember a couple of years ago in the Springtime along i-84 the winds were so fierce in that stretch of the highway that the outside mirrors on our big rental truck kept blowing closed into the truck body and ended up actually having the drive with the window down and one arm out the window to hold the mirror into place. Somewhere up there also I remember seeing a wind generator farm - maybe closer to the Idaho border. (?)
