Hi, I'm trying to find a town to move to in Oregon . Could some one please tell me which town you would choose either Silverton or Newberg and why. Please be specific. Thanks for the info. I appreciate it.

Silverton is a lot prettier but also a lot more isolated if you need to commute to anyplace but Salem. What are your criteria?

Jobs?
Commute distance to larger city?
Schools?
House prices?
Shopping?
Recreation?

Based upon your criteria and your likes and dislikes, I would recommend Burns.

You have no criteria and there is nothing there. Perfect match.

Seriously, you must have some sort of list of wants and needs. Work requirements? School requirements? Sports or activities?

Newberg is going to be closer to large hospitals and specialist medical professionals. If older, may want to consider that. Maybe more public transportation?

You've asked this same question over and over about so many different towns and have never given any criteria, yet you want people to "be "specific."

Cool Thanks to the repliers

Hi, thank you all who have answered. I'm not specific about my needs and wants because i've already done the research about the towns (ALOT of research) such as population, job commuting distances, rural, not rural, amenities, hospitals, cost of living, crime rates etc etc etc. My main information need now is just trying to find out what the people of these towns think about their town. I'd like to know which ones better and why do you like or dislike living there. Thanks for the information

I don't think we have anyone on this forum that lives in Newberg or Silverton.

Also, unless a poster really hates a city, you aren't going to get anyone to say one city is better than another because we appreciate that there is a place for everyone. If someone wants to live in a town of 300 on the coast and it makes them happy that is just as good as someone living and loving Portland. Neither is better. Just different.

OH HUMMM!!
Would I live in Silverton, yes ..Had my husband and I known about Silverton and what a neat little town it is when we
bought our house in North Salem 12 years ago we would have given Silverton a good look..
I volunteer out at Oregon Gardens in Silverton once a week or more. Its a neat little town with a good hospital, senior center, dog park, skateboard park and more..The people who live there are friendly and love it out there..Silverton also
has its own herd of deer who live in the neighborhoods..Its about 15 miles from Salem and an hour from Portland..
You need to quit asking questions and come to visit and see for yourself what the towns are like...
Well that's my 2 cents worth.
