Beaverton is planned so that there is at least one park a mile from every house in Beaverton. We have a beautiful indoor pool and gym with all kinds of classes available in our neighborhood and every neighborhood has access to a pool. There is Sky High Sports and Pump It Up close by for those rainy/ grey days. The zoo and Washington Park is in SW Portland but pretty close. There are farms out this way for berry picking and horse back riding isn't too far away. The Beaverton Farmer's Market is very good.

Honestly interracial won't be an issue in most cities of any size in Oregon. Maybe steer clear of some of the tinier rednecky towns. Portland metro is super liberal for the most part.

Beaverton and Hillsboro are pretty nice. I lived right on the border of those two and my apartment overlooked a nice little park with towering fir trees. The only area on the Westside to avoid is Aloha. Hillsboro, Beaverton, Tigard, Tualitin, and Wilsonville are all nice.
