So long as they are in the far right lane, no one can cry about someone driving the speed limit. Those who do are the ones who cause the accidents.

I-5 is 70 mph at both state lines. Most drivers in Oregon drive 70 to 80 mph on it. The speed limit should be 80 mph. But of course that would put a lot of those Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies out of jobs who sit on the side of I-5 south of Ashland writing out non-stop tickets to California drivers coming down the mountain.

I don't think anyone is contesting the speed-limits within the city limits, just the arcane laws on roads outside of the city. Oregon in the past few years has become over protective when it comes to dealing with what they perceive as "you might hurt yourself" laws.

That is total BS propaganda by speed limit control freaks. 10 miles over the speed limit gets you 10 miles father down the road with each hour of driving. If you have a 15 mile commute and you drive 45 mph in a 35 mph speed zone, you will save six minutes of driving each way. Thats 12 minutes of driving saved each day. One hour saved each week. 52 hours of driving saved in one year. Most people like to have an extra 52 hours of free time a year.

In most metropolitan areas, say around Portland, the average speed during commute hours is about 15mph. So it really doesn't matter if you raise the speed-limit by 10mph you'll never get to the speed-limit

Only if you are commuting hours at a time in distance. Most people aren't commuting that far, therefore they aren't getting that far ahead of others, and the moment they get caught at a light getting off the highway they lose all those minutes they were trying to gain. I always get a good laugh at people when I catch up to them at a light by not speeding.

Out of State Cars = $$$$$$.

I listen to the OSP scanner. Almost every plate they run is either California, Washington, or British Columbia. If you want to drive through Oregon be ready to pay your Oregon speed tax.
