Enjoy some time in the Columbia Gorge (especially Cape Horn, WA and Vista house OR) Multnomah Falls Lodge has "Smoked Salmon Hash for Breakfast' and Hazelnut pancakes.

While in Portland consider Portland Parks festivals / music (Free for All)
and the (2) rose gardens are now superb. Washington and Peninsula Park

Of course the sunsets are spectacular with the smoke / red skies.

Cannon Beach, Hug Point / Ecola / and Twin Rocks are all nice spots for sunset.

Paradise Lodge at Mt Rainier is nice, as is a nearby FREE metal sculpture park
Ashford, WA - Ex Nihilo - Spirits of Iron

I hope you didn't get a ticket. The trick is to know where you can get away with it, and where you can't. I have never gotten a speeding ticket in Oregon, and I sometimes drive up to 80 or 90 mph, in a 55 zone. But when you see a sign "SPEED 20", no matter how dumb that speed might seem, you had better be under 25 or at least under 30, or you are going to get a ticket. Because those are the classic speed traps. Of course having Oregon license plates, helps too.

It was interesting this weekend with all the cops on overtime for the eclipse, and having very little to do, I saw them writing out dozens of tourist tickets on the side of the road. But when I got caught in a traffic jam for five hours, do you know how many cops I saw? Exactly one, in five hours. Do you think he was directing traffic or something? Hell no. I saw him come the opposite direction with his flashing lights on, then he U-turned, and came back down the shoulder, then he parked and just sat there. I would guess he was probably looking for people driving illegally on the shoulder to to give tickets too. Since it was impossible for anybody to speed in that mess, he probably had to find some other way to fill his ticket quota.
