I have had it with NYC and living paycheck to paycheck because I am paying more than half my salary to rent for a 2 bedroom 800 sq ft apartment! not to mention the rate of my car insurance, taxes, etc. Oh and did I mention the over 40 inches of snow this winter lol. I want a better quality of life to raise my family in. I have a bunch of family all over FL so that is another plus. I just am fed up! I am taking my savings and moving down south next month! I know it sounds a little crazy but with family in the area we have a place to stay while our belongings are in storage so I can find employment. I have my A.S in Criminal Justice and will be looking for a job as a Police Officer or Corrections Officer (whichever comes first and has a better schedule). But, In the meantime I will work in route sales or private security (I have a background in both). My wife has a degree in Business Admin/Accounting and will be looking for a hospital job in that field (How hard are they to come by) We would be looking for a suburb that is within 30 mins of Orlando. We would like a family friendly safe neighboorhood were we can rent for now a 3 bed 2 bath home within the price range of $800-$1200. I would love any local info as it would help out alot for sure! Thank You all in advance.

Sheesh! you better have a lot of savings...

The economy is NOT good for ANY Civil service job.. more layoffs to come in Florida

hospital jobs MIGHT be there, but usually nursing only.

There are places to rent in nice neighborhoods at your price range.

IF you decide to come, look around and see what you might like.. there are a LOT of different neighborhoods to choose from.

Most of Seminole county would meet your criteria and fall in your price range except the more affluent areas (Heathrow, Sweetwater, Wekiwa) but work is another story. The governor will be proposing a new budget today that is expected to cut $1B in cost. I'm predicting it could make it very difficult to get a state LEO job.

Celebration is a great little neighborhood especially for a family.
It is about 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, 10 minutes from Disney attractions, 20 minutes from GREAT fresh produce in Polk County and about an hour in either direction to the beach

People have a very common misconception that Celebration is SUPER expensive, while it is classified as upper middle class, the recession has hit it hard and if you are looking to rent you can find all sorts of rentals at reasonable prices. If buying is what you are looking for a lot of homes, unfortunately, are on short sale or foreclosure, but even the ones that are not are way cheaper than what they should be because no one can afford it.
Take a look, it is definitely worth it...

Dr Phillips/Metro have nice areas as well, a little closer to downtown...also look north of downtown lots of nice neighborhoods
