My wife and I moved down to Daytona Beach relatively recently and she's really missing her favorite Shochu-drinking spot in Louisville...we regularly hit up Orlando, St. Augustine, Ormond, Port Orange, and New Smyrna Beach in our escapes from Daytona, but we haven't had luck yet finding a Japanese or other Asian restaurant that serves her favorite Japanese beverage. Anyone have recommendations? (Also any recommendations of particularly good Asian restaurants to hit up in general in these areas are welcome, especially for Vietnamese, Korean, or sushi).

Thanks!

If anyone would carry it I would say try Rangetsu in Maitland, Shari downtown, Dragonfly in Dr. Phillips/Sandlake, or Bennihanna on I-Drive. All of these places also have great food.

I don't know of any shochu-specific bars. I am shocked that Louisville even has that since I have never seen it in the States anywhere. We have some sake bars like Tatame Lounge in Winter Park, and I am sure some Japanese restaurants around have good selections...perhaps RanGetsu, which also doubles as an upscale lounge called Orchid. But again, not sure if they have shochu. I didn't care for it when I tried lots of it in Japan so I haven't exactly been trying to track it down.

My favorites places to eat are Hawkers Asian Street Fare for an assortment of Asian tapas, and Pho 88 and Lac Viet for Vietnamese.

To clarify, Louisville didn't have a shochu specific bar, but a restaurant there called Dragon King's Daughter served several types of Shochu and my wife found she enjoyed it, especially the sweet-potato based shochus
