Now that I have your attention...

I'm thinking about moving to central Florida. I'd like to raise my children in a nice environment, where there are no/very minimal, thugs, gangsters and where ghetto lifestyle isn't glamorized! Unlike here in Miami...

I was thinking of moving to Clermont, Florida. I went there recently and asked about the neighborhood and of course the salesman told me everything is peachy there in Clermont. I plan to commute to the city (Orlando) for work..if I find anything (I do motion graphics).

So any comments about Clermont or any other city near Orlando that would be great to raise children, let me know.....

PS I loved the rolling hills of Clermont that's what really caught my eye. In Miami the highest landmark is a garbage dumpster hill.

Clermont is a great place. I lived there for five years before moving to Windermere and I really can't recall worrying about whether I locked the doors or not but it is growing. There's not too many apartments there so its probably the reason for low crime. It seems like apartments and crime go hand in hand in Central Florida. They've built a few new schools which I'm hearing good things about as well. The prices are lower in Clermont than Orlando so its a bonus. And yes there are plenty vendors roadside selling those oranges.

I hear ya....i too grew up in Miami and i remember that garbage hill........LOL......at least the one out near Pembroke Pines/Mirimar......well anyways....i live in Orlando and my girlfriend lives in Clermont.....so i am always over in Clermont ......it is a nice area just kind of boring ......there isnt a movie theatre close by yet....but i heard they are going to build one soon.....but the area feels pretty safe to me...the only small pocket of anything bad would be behind Winn-Dixie right after you pass highway 27 going west but i personally havent been in that neighborhood but i heard it from my girlfriend who is from Long Island NY......well yeah i think Clermont is booming and will soon have things to do and it is safe overall and not too far if you need to get to Orlando......good luck

oH yeah .....there is another area that is really nice and safe and the homes start at $220k and up....it is out in Windemere....i deliver pizza out there and the area is really safe and there is a fireworks show in the distance everynight from Disney's magic kingdom.....check out "Lakes of Windemere"....and "Glenmuir".....or any of the other developments out on County road 535....i think it is county rd...but just look at the map and look for 535 that goes from Lake Buena Vista up to Highway 50 (Colonial dr.) .....and the new developments are out there....wish i had the money to move out that way

Clermont is a very nice suburb area. Also you might check out Winter Garden. That's a little east of Clermont. Both areas are somewhat affordable and they have that small town atmosphere, always nice for children. I might add, that it gets a lot more expensive as you move closer into Orlando. Good luck.
