And location!
I'm moving to Orlando in August, and I plan on going to the East Valencia campus. The cheapest rent I can find is around 350$ but it seems to be in sketchy areas like Parramore and Pine Hills. (I only know they are sketchy because of what people have posted on this board.) Is there any way to find a place in east Orlando that is in a safe neighborhood but isn't 900$ a month, or am I just wishing too much?
I'm going to Orlando next week for two days to try and look around. Don't know where to start though.

You shouldn't have a problem finding a room in a house with a couple of other people that will give you kitchen and laundry access in your price range in a nice area. But if you want to live alone, I think your choice is unsafe or higher rent.

Also look at the student apartment complexes closer to UCF. They often have individual leases for each renter. I have seen the prices as low as $550.
