Hi, all. My husband just accepted a New position and will be working in Millenia. We came down for a pre decision trip and decided on Windermere. We have two boys, ages 3 and 7 months and will be relocating soon. We spent a day with a realtor and saw some great options. Here’s my dilemma- in our price range, we can get a new or next to new build in a great neighborhood (but not mature) or an older home that needs updated in Keenes Point. We LOVE the neighborhood. We love the trees and the feel of it is more of what we are used to where we live now. The other neighborhoods look nice, they just seem crowded and not as landscaped. So for those of you in KP, is it worth it? Do you utilize the amenities and the club house (I’m aware it’s an extra fee). Thanks!!!

It really comes down to your personal preference. I know many people who would rather have a new home in a new neighborhood while others would easily choose an outdated home in a mature neighborhood. Dig deep and ask yourselves which person are you.

to piggy back on the thread a bit, is there a list of all of the Windermere neighborhoods/development names out there somewhere? I can't seem to find one. I'm actually in Orlando for a few days and wanted to take a look at each community.

Easiest way to do it yourself would be to look online and choose homes you like in your price range. Some communities are gated and you won’t be able to enter without a realtor though, but a lot aren’t gated.

There’s a ton of communities in Windermere, especially if you include the new area off 535. There’s also a lot of homes that aren’t in a subdivision, especially in downtown Windermere and nearby Gotha. I agree with BMW in that you should search for homes in your target range and collect a list from there. Driving around would be the best way to learn about the area.

Bduda- I have a few friends that live in Keenes Point and love it there. Personally, I can't see paying the fees and high property taxes. We chose an area nearby with an Ocoee mailing address, but on the border of Gotha and Windermere. We have a nice treed area and access to all the benefits of living in Windermere. You may be disappointed with the newer neighborhoods of Windermere (down 535) as many have been cleared with few older trees.

Good luck.

Yea, I actually did some driving around there today. It seems everywhere around the Windermere Prep school is pretty upscale. I thought the downtown area was beautiful as well with the cobblestone and even the dirt roads were interesting. That area looks pretty pricey though. Is there any place in Windermere that is less desirable and maybe should avoid?

Tomorrow I'll be checking out Winter Park and Oviedo.

Not really, it’s a very nice and safe area. The further out you go the cheaper it becomes. Just keep that in mind to make sure you are okay with the distances, but as far as danger, it’s all safe. Downtown Windermere is more expensive than along 535 etc. When you go to winter Park, check out Baldwin Park as well, it’s right there.

We live in Keene's Pointe. In my opinion, well worth it vs a new build in Horizon West. We love the mature trees, meticulous landscaping, and HOA that does not allow cars to park all over the streets or houses to go into disrepair. But you do pay a premium for it.
