Planning to move from Miami to Orlando. I estimated the Uhaul to cost about $421. Any ideas how much movers would cost? Does anyone recommend Movers?

Does that $421 include taxes and insurance? Tolls? Fuel?

Movers will depend on how much you are moving and if there are stairs involved, but I doubt it will be under $2K or so.

It's just a bedroom 1 dresser 1 night stand 1 queen size bed. Then a love seat, a sofa, two end tables and a coffee table. $421 was the cost to rent and drive a uhaul ourselves. Not sure if it includes taxes but I tried calculating gas.
What's ABF?

Why would you rent an entire truck when all you need it sounds like is a smaller trailer? They are much less expensive and you haul it with your own vehicle. I would not hire a mover to take that stuff so far and honestly, if they stuff does not have centimental value why not sell it and purchase different when you get moved. Then all you have to deal with is your clothing which can be stuffed in your truck and back seat and whatever other personal items you have.

They are a truck line that alot of people use to move their goods. You'll find them if you google or in your local phone directory. Cheaper than a professional mover and I see them all over the highways all the time.

When you're signing up for a U-haul truck, they will link to several independent moving labor services -- mostly individuals but also some small companies. Their hourly rates and ratings are provided. That may save you quite a bit over a moving company, but still save you from the heavy lifting.

Movers will always cost significantly more than diy moving. That said uhaul does not generally have the best rates on one-way truck rentals. We've generally used them for local moves, but for one-way rentals have done better with Penske, and once used Budget. I prefer working with Penske. If you go to a site like moving.com they often have links that will give you a discount. Pods and ABF/Upack are quite a bit more expensive, so if driving a small truck isn't an issue for you I'd go ahead with a rental. That's if your priority is cost. I think I paid Budget about the same as your quote for a HUGE truck (25') from SC to FL. You can likely do your move with a 12'.

We just moved a 3br+ house by ourselves and I swear that's the LAST time I'll do it without help. Smaller places, not such a big deal.
