Asking which is better is like asking...

Bentley (Winter Park) or Honda (Sanford)

A honda is still a decent car, but comes nowhere near a Bentley, and of course doesn't cost the same.

But isn't it true that not all areas that are labeled Winter Park are nice? That is, I have read that some not-so-nice neighborhoods, while outside of Winter Park city limits, still have a Winter Park mailing address, and call themselves part of Winter Park.

Also, aren't some parts of Sanford OK neighborhoods? I don't live in the Orlando area (yet) but I've been doing a lot of reading about it, mostly on C-D, and these are impressions I've gotten from what I've read.

All of Winter Park is more desirable than Sanford generally speaking, of course people have different tastes, but if you were to view it from an investor perspective, you would see it this way. Winter Park covers a relatively small area and while some spots are nicer than others, overall it is still 1000x nicer and more desirable than Sanford IMO and in the opinion of most people.

Sanford isn't a bad area, it's perfectly fine, but it's no contest between the two of them. It really is like comparing a Bentley to a Honda.

I agree with everyone else. Winter Park is better in all ways than Sanford. But, that doesn't mean Sanford is all bad, either.

The only edge I'd give Sanford is traffic and overall congestion. Depending on where you are in Winter Park, it can feel very congested and even claustrophobic. That comes, IMO, from the *positives* of having a billion restaurants and stores and things to do, but it can become annoying driving 15 in stop and go down Fairbanks. Sanford also has traffic, of course. But generally speaking, Winter Park is worse.

There isn't anything that Winter Park doesn't have (or that you can't find in nearby Maitland or downtown Orlando). Shopping, dining, local treasures, parks, history, natural beauty, etc.

Both WP and Sanford have less desirable areas, but Sanford has more. And, even in a dodgier area of Winter Park, you are still very near to the best areas and you're never really in a horrible spot.
