Hi all ,

I'm looking to move to Florida , along with my best friend after undergrad and we're so confused on where to relocate. We're both originally from Ohio..Cleveland to be exact and we're looking for to experience something new and adventurous after graduation in 2016. Around the time of our graduation, we will both be turning 21 so this is a perfect time to move and start experiencing life! WE HAVE NEVER BEEN TO FLORIDA.

We're looking to relocate to a urban neighborhood, where this is lot's of life, young adults and just a good ol time! I've heard good things about Orlando so that's really the only options for us at this moment but still open to other cities. The thing we like about Orlando is that we heard the downtown life was amazing and there's so much to do! My only concern is the different neighborhoods within Orlando, where do you guys think is the best location for a couple of trendy ladies? I heard good things about both East and West side of Orlando so if someone could help explain the living conditions in both , it would be great. Like I said previously we're open to other ideas so please make sure to include experiences and info about other cities in Florida. We really don't want to be near many older people, I think the best way for me to respect my elders is to not live by any in the first place because we are younger adults who still like to party. We don't want to live around heavy family communities and we just want to be surrounded by a laid-back/cool area where the people are just as laid-back, likes to have fun but also professional.

We're both African American women and although I would like to be around people of the same background, I don't want to live in the hood or ghetto where I have to worry of a high crime rate.( I've had enough of that in Cleveland.) A diverse city more up our ladder...we just want to mingle and get along with everyone. We are young professionals in the making so we want to also be near mature individuals.

Thanks to anyone who can give us insight ! (please excuse any typos, because I am the typo queen lol)

Hey guys I think you guys should check out the areas of Thorton Park, Lake Nona is a new area but full of professionals just like you, Downtown of course, Eola Heights and Parramore are up and coming neighborhoods with some nice activities. Orlando is relatively safe just be street smart which I'm sure you are coming from Cleveland.

P.S. Welcome to Florida

young professionals yes a trip be better and see if Orlando is what you are looking for, I always will say Miami first. I think once you have been there, you can tone down to other parts of FL . Orlando is cool, but still more townsy compared to the northern cities.

I'd look around Thorton Park for a more urban feel and if you want more of a traditional setting that still has professionals, hip restaurants etc then Dr. Phillips.

Anyways, I believe the areas that will most likely fit the your criteria are Thornton Park, Lake Eola Heights, Winter Park, College Park, Delaney Park, Baldwin Park and DT Orlando (preferably east of I4). But I agree with others in that you should try to visit Florida first and do some more exploring.
